Transhipments

To improve the knowledge within CCAMLR of vessels operating inside the Convention Area and recognising the need to control transhipment operations, CCAMLR requires Contracting Parties to provide the details of vessel transhipments to the CCAMLR Secretariat in accordance with Conservation Measure 10-09.

Each Contracting Party must notify the Secretariat at least 72 hours before transhipment of harvested marine living resources, bait or fuel is to occur. Transhipment of other items must be notified to the Secretariat at least 2 hours in advance. The Flag State of each vessel involved in the transhipment may also authorise the vessel(s) to provide the details of the transhipment to the Secretariat directly. 

The required details are identified in Conservation Measure 10-09, Annex 10-09/A and include vessel information, the proposed time and position of transhipment and the products or items to be transhipped and must be submitted for each vessel involved in the transhipment activity. A confirmation of the actual transhipment details is also required within 3 days following the transhipment completion.
